Maritime Provinces Trip Reports

The Maritimes is a region of Eastern Canada consisting of three provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. These provinces all border the sea. Together with Canada’s easternmost provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Maritime provinces make up the region of Atlantic Canada.

In the Maritimes, there are swift rivers and calm ones, scenic coastlines, picturesque lakes, and placid bays. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have a surprising number of inland waterways and even for its size, Prince Edward Island has great paddling routes, as well as a designated Canadian Heritage River — the Hillsboro .

Nova Scotia has two designated Canadian Heritage Rivers — the Margaree and the Shelburne. One of the best resources for paddling in Nova Scotia can be found here.

New Brunswick has three designated Canadian Heritage Rivers — the St. Croix, the St. John, and the Upper Restigouche.
